Most PCC Students prefer to meet at our Pasadena office, although we also have offices available in several other Southern California cities. Our Pasadena office is about a 5-10 minute drive away from campus and would even be accessible by bicycle. There is some free street parking, a paid lot adjacent to the building and an inexpensive public parking lot close by. THE THERAPY AND ASSESSMENT PROCESS
The assessment process varies somewhat on a case-by-case basis. Generally, the variability is based on the reason for testing, although many testing batteries contain similar tests. We are aware that many students may be eager to complete the testing and obtain the results since certain accommodations require outside assessment. Therefore, our goal is to begin the assessment as quickly as needed and get the results to you as soon as possible. The entire process of scheduling the appointment, completing the testing and returning for feedback on the results typically requires approximately 2 to 4 weeks. The therapy process also varies somewhat, but generally begins with an initial appointment (i.e. an "intake session") during which time you are able to get to know us, ask any questions you may have and discuss your reasons for seeking therapy. At the end of this session, we will provide you with our recommendation. Typically, therapy sessions are conducted on a once per week basis for about 45-50 minutes per session. However, there are many options available and we could discuss other arrangements that might better meet your needs. We accept most major insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Shield, Magellan, Cigna and several others. We are able to bill out of network benefits for any insurance plan and offer cash payments options for individuals who prefer to not use their private insurance. If you would like to check for possible insurance coverage, we would be glad to call and obtain the benefits information for you. Please contact us and we can send you a form to provide us with your insurance information. From there it takes about 1-2 days to verify coverage and obtain the benefit information. We will then be able to give you an estimate of your out-of-pocket cost, if any, prior to beginning testing or therapy.
STEPS FOR REQUESTING SPECIAL SERVICES AT PCC
1. At least 2 weeks before the start of the quarter for which you are requesting services, inform the Disabled Students Programs and Services Department (DSPS) that you are a student with a qualified disability. The DSPS office is in Room D-209 (Phone: 626-585-7127 or Email: firstname.lastname@example.org).
2. Submit your test results to DSPS as documentation of your disability and schedule an intake.
3. Meet with your DSPS Specialist who will inform you of the subsequent steps you need to take.
