WELCOME UCR STUDENTS

On this page you should find information you need regarding our therapy and assessment services, scheduling appointments, pricing, directions and parking. Most UCR Students prefer to meet at our Rancho Cucamonga office, although we also have offices available in several other Southern California cities. Our Rancho Cucamonga office is about a 20 minute drive away from the UCR campus. Free parking is available in an open lot attached to our office building. THE THERAPY AND ASSESSMENT PROCESS
The assessment process varies somewhat on a case-by-case basis. Generally, the variability is based on the reason for testing, although many testing batteries contain similar tests. We are aware that many students may be eager to complete the testing and obtain the results since certain accommodations require outside assessment. Therefore, our goal is to begin the assessment as quickly as needed and get the results to you as soon as possible. The entire process of scheduling the appointment, completing the testing and returning for feedback on the results typically requires approximately 2 to 4 weeks. The therapy process also varies somewhat, but generally begins with an initial appointment (i.e. an "intake session") during which time you are able to get to know us, ask any questions you may have and discuss your reasons for seeking therapy. At the end of this session, we will provide you with our recommendation. Typically, therapy sessions are conducted on a once per week basis for about 45-50 minutes per session. However, there are many options available and we could discuss other arrangements that might better meet your needs. We accept most major insurance plans including the student health plan offered by UCR. If you are using this plan, then you need to be sure you have a referral from the UCR Student Counseling Center (951-827-5531 or click here) or the UCR Health Center (951-827-3031 or click here). Once you have this referral, we can bill the insurance as in-network providers. The coverage of the plan varies, but we would be glad to check on the benefits for you in advance of your first session. Also, you may call the UCR Health Center for specific benefits and co-payment information. For all other insurance plans, we will request your insurance information in advance. Our office will check on benefits and inform you of an approximate out-of-pocket cost prior to beginning testing.
STEPS FOR REQUESTING SPECIAL SERVICES AT UCR
1. At least 2 weeks before the start of the quarter for which you are requesting services, inform the Services for Students with Disabilities office (SSD) that you are a student with a qualified disability. The SSD office is in 125 Costo Hall (Phone: 951-827-4538).
2. Submit your test results to SSD as documentation of your disability and complete the "Student Data and Request for Accommodation Form" (click here to download the form).
3. Meet with your Disability Specialist who will inform you of the subsequent steps you need to take.
