Colleen Casady, DSW, LCSW
Hello, My name is Dr. Casady. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I also received my Doctorate in Social Work, 2019.
My approach tends to work within a Humanistic approach. I prefer this style due to its support in keeping people in the present with the possibility to develop new coping skills/awareness moving forward. Essentially, life is going to happen, but it is how we respond or react to a situation that can allow us to grow or hold us back. I also work with a Cognitive Behavioral approach. To phrase it simply, in order to change an action or behavior, we must change the thinking behind the action or behavior.
The majority of my experience has been helping people who struggle with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, abandonment and loneliness, grief/loss, and the challenges of parenting. I am willing to see individuals.
I am available to interact with you in whichever manner is most comfortable for you. I find it beneficial to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better, but I am also available via phone and text if that works well for you.
Like most of the world, I, too, have come from a difficult family dynamic and have struggled with mental health issues. I believe there is a lot to gain from living through issues and coming out ahead. I have been working as a Social Worker for more than 30 years. From June 1998 to June 2000, I completed my clinical hours for licensure under the supervision of Dr. Joseph Haraszti, MD in Pasadena, CA.
I know how hard it is to find a counselor with whom you feel a connection, and I would be grateful to work with you through this stage of your life. Having a positive connection with your counselor is important for your therapeutic success. You are not alone in your circumstances. I believe I can help.
