Kirsten Angeliyan, LMFT

Hi! I am Kirsten Angeliyan, a multiculturally-sensitive Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 10 years of specializing in humanistic, experiential and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) approaches. I received a bachelor’s degree with majors in Criminology, Law & Society and Psychology and Social Behavior from UC Irvine in 2008. I earned a master’s degree at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo with distinction in 2015. I became licensed as a therapist in 2018 and have experience in working with children, adolescents & adults, families, and groups in home, school, forensic and managed healthcare settings.

With a passion for promoting mental health trauma-recovery and wellness, I have dedicated my professional journey and focus to assisting adults (ages 18+) to navigate the complexities of adulthood while bearing the impact of unresolved childhood trauma. I have a passion for helping marginalized communities heal from systemic, institutional and cultural forms of oppression. I am equally passionate about helping adult individuals maintain their mental health recovery and maintenance while living with a chronic mental health disorder. My approach to therapy centers around the here-and-now, where insight and empowerment to heal can be accessed. I hold the frame for the therapeutic process by offering space for feedback and collaborative problem-solving, asking questions to draw out my client’s inner-wisdom and by being present and authentic in the therapy room. I consciously guide alongside my client’s unique journey to heal from past wounds and live more presently.
